Dr. Gavin S.H Chiu was elected a AFellow of the Royal Historical Society (UK) in 2024. In 2018, he was awarded the First Prize for Outstanding Work in the History of Chinese Economic Thought. He is currently a Research Fellow (concurrent appointment) at the Taiwan–Hong Kong Research Centre, National Sun Yat-sen University, and a Visiting Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, University of London.
He has previously taught at Bryant University (USA), Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai, Shenzhen University, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, and the Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica (Taiwan). His academic appointments have included Visiting Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Senior Visiting Scholar, and he is also a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society (UK).
